Restoration

Restoration is a specific frontier field of study where interdisciplinary relations are closely connected. The concept of the field is based mainly on teaching subjects such as modelling, reproduction sculpture, stone sculpture, plastering and drawing. As part of the course, students apply standard stone and plaster restoration procedures, with great emphasis on the creating of copies. The study also includes gliding, surface treatments of plaster and stone and deals with the use of modern technology in the field. The theoretical part of the study introduces students to the procedures and materials used in restoration, the issue of processing restoration documentation, the principles of conservation and the basics of Christian iconography and heraldry.
